Melandie is a native Angeleno, graduating from Westchester High School.  Having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, she has dedicated her career to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalized children and families.  

Melandie has held various roles during her 27 years of dedicated service with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.  Her tenure with DCFS has showcased her multifaceted expertise as she held key leadership positions. Currently, Melandie serves as the Director of Casey Family Programs in the Los Angeles Field Office, the nation’s largest operating foundation, focusing on safely reducing the need for foster care.  She maintains, no matter her title or where she has worked, she has always been an advocate for children and access to quality education.  

Melandie’s two children attended Catholic Schools.  Chaz most recently graduated from Loyola High School, class of 2024, where he played varsity football for three years and ran track.  In addition, her daughter Clarke graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Class of 2021, where she played softball and received the high honor of the “Woman of Vision” award. 

Melandie continues to exemplify unwavering dedication to the betterment of child welfare and community service.
