PHIL BERTOLE, President

Phil Bertole is a longtime supporter of Catholic education and the power of athletics in the formation of important life traits, including discipline, commitment, leadership and teamwork.

For many years Phil owned and operated a multi-line insurance agency. He currently works as the head project manager of one of the largest structural cement contractors in Los Angeles.

Phil attended California State University in Northridge where he started for the football team as an inside linebacker.

While Phil graduated from Burroughs High School in Burbank, he and his wife, Patricia, appreciated the unique value of Catholic education.

All three of their sons attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school. Their eldest son, Nicholas is a graduate of Loyola High School of Los Angeles ‘05 where he was an All-State linebacker on a CIF Div. I Championship football team. Nick earned his bachelor’s degree from USC. The Bertoles’ middle son, Matthew, graduated from Loyola High ‘08 and California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. Matt was MVP of his football team as a senior at Loyola and played football at Cal Poly SLO. The Bertoles’ youngest son, Charles ‘10, graduated from Providence High School in Burbank, where he played basketball. Charles earned his undergraduate degree from California State University in Sonoma.

Phil accepted the position of President of SCCEEF because he believes strongly in the mission of the Foundation in assisting the families of student-athletes who have been admitted to, but cannot afford to attend, the best Catholic college preparatory institutions in the greater Los Angeles area.
