Melandie is a proud native of Los Angeles and a graduate of Westchester High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge, and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Throughout her career, she has remained deeply committed to improving the wellbeing of vulnerable and marginalized children and families.
With over 27 years of service at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, Melandie has held a variety of leadership roles, demonstrating both her versatility and her unwavering dedication to child welfare. She currently serves as Director of the Los Angeles Field Office for Casey Family Programs—the nation’s largest operating foundation focused on safely reducing the need for foster care. Regardless of her role or organization, Melandie has always been a passionate advocate for children and equitable access to quality education.
Her personal commitment to Catholic education is reflected in her children’s achievements. Her son, Chaz, a member of Loyola High School’s Class of 2024, played varsity football for three years and competed in track. Her daughter, Clarke, a 2021 graduate of Notre Dame Academy, played softball and received the distinguished “Woman of Vision” award.
Melandie continues to be a pillar in the community, exemplifying servant leadership and a lifelong dedication to empowering families and transforming lives.
